Event Description: Children’s Friend and Family Services seeks volunteer mentors ages 21 and older to be matched with one youth mentee from the Lawrence, North Andover and Dracut communities. Our Merrimac Valley waitlist has 8 young people on it right now. • Youth in particular need on our waitlist in the Merrimac Valley are o 10 year old male in Lawrence, loves being outdoors, painting, and playing basketball. No father, two younger siblings, single mom trying to get by. *Needs a male. o 8 year old male in Lawrence, likes to color, watch movies, and play. *Needs a male o 17 year old male in Lawrence who wants to become an electrician. Enjoys running. Has two more years of high school. *Needs a male. o 8 year old female in Lawrence, likes art and dancing. Needs help building healthy relationships. *Needs a female. o 10 year old female in Lawrence, needs help with self esteem and academics. o 5 year old male in North Andover needs help learning how to be safe in the community. *Needs a male. o 13 year old female in Lawrence is the eldest of 5 and would like to spend time outside of her home and learn new things. *Needs a female. o 13 year old male in Dracut enjoys eating, computers, taking things a part, and riding his bike. *Needs a male. • Mentors participate in an orientation and multiple trainings throughout the year. You will have the consistent support of program staff. • Your mentor responsibility includes meeting every week or every other week for at least two to four hours to establish a one-to-one relationship that over a year’s time matures into a genuine, caring friendship. • Everyone has something to offer! Our mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and professions. Directions:
This is Community-Based mentoring, so where you all go is up to you and your mentee...parks, museums, movies, restaurants, libraries, etc etc!
